Unraveling feed and nutrient use efficiencies in grassland-based dairy farms

چکیده

Grassland-based dairy farms are important for the provisioning of milk and ecosystem services. However, key factors interactions that influence feed use efficiency grassland-based in practice not well known understood, as a consequence no well-targeted recommendations can be provided. This paper addresses question ‘what main determine variations calculated N P efficiencies on subjected to agri-environmental regulations’. Monitoring modeling data from ~12000 The Netherlands over 4 year period (2017–2020), collected through KringloopWijzer model, were analyzed 2020 statistically detail. Farms greatly differed production intensity (range < 10 >25 Mg per ha yr) amount purchased feed. 5 95 percentile values frequency distribution annual mean at herd level 0.9 1.3 kg dry matter, respectively. In conclusion, indicator profitability environmental performance farms. Differences between these indicators large, differences limited explanatory variables. Our study provides lessons improving

Nutrient Management Behavior on Wisconsin Dairy Farms

Nutrient management plans for livestock operations should account for rates and timing of manure application to cropland, as well as how manure is integrated with other nutrient sources. Little is known, however, about actual nutrient management behavior of farmers, and what changes may be needed for farmers to adhere to nutrient management regulations. Detailed records were kept on fertilizer,...

Nitrogen and phosphorus use efficiencies in dairy production in china.

Milk production has greatly increased in China recently, with significant impacts on the cycling of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P). However, nutrient flows within the changing dairy production system are not well quantified. The aim of this study was to increase the quantitative understanding of N and P cycling and utilization in dairy production through database development and simulation mod...

An approach to nutrient management on dairy farms.

In the European Union, groundwater should contain less than 50 mg of nitrate/L. Individual countries have developed alternative strategies for phosphorus (P). In The Netherlands, regulations based on P limited the amount of manure applied per hectare. A more balanced P supply to the land has been achieved by transport of manure from surplus to deficit regions. Costs of processing of manure to p...

Determinations of feed-milk-manure relationships on grazing-based dairy farms.

Feed conversion into milk, nutrient excretion in manure and subsequent environment impacts of manure management are highly influenced by the diets that farmers feed their lactating cows (Bos taurus). On confinement-based dairy farms, determinations of diet composition are relatively straightforward because the types, amounts and nutrients contained in stored feeds are often well known. However,...

Short-Run and Long-Run Efficiencies of New York Dairy Farms

Short-run and long-run technical and allocative efficiencies were computed for 395 New York dairy farms using data envelopment or nonparametric procedures on 1990 Dairy Farm Business Summary data. The farms were, on average, more allocatively efficient in the short run than in the long run, but were more technically efficient in the long run than in the short run. Stanchion barns were as effici...
